thanks for thw vote of confidence Hanna. i did enjoy this one. the slightly longer version 1700 will go up shortly when I get wifi sorted at our holiday gaff in quite a spooky old hall actually... redolent with ghostly history id say...
Congratulations to all the writers and judges involved. Great to be part of this brilliant competition. Hope to read some of these terrifying stories soon.
I think there was a '1' left off the end of my Substack ID, because I don't know who that other Kevin Judge is - but, it has given me great inspiration for a new short story :)
Thanks for a fun contest and writing opportunity - I just want to note that your link to my account here goes to another Kerry Sutherland (mine is @henryjamesgirl). Thank you!
This Is Halloween by James A. Moore, with occasional collaborators, is a short if not sleek collection. It does right by the autumn season and October 31’s pleasures and dangers. Locations and predicaments recur, and Moore makes them count. His adult characters excel in weathering their abject thumbscrew miseries. The younger set are usually blind to their own errors, and the wrongness of their witch-haunted Yoknapatawpha.
Wow! delighted to get 5th place in such austere company! made my day! Thank you! so pleased it went down well 😎
Congrats Nick!
Well done! 👍
Thanks Jason😎
Blew me away, Nick! Really good!
Thanks Sean. if you know about the sycamore gap which was a few miles from my home... this one was from the heart
I wrote a poem about it actually. Not sure where it is or whether or not it was any good. But I thought about that tree and the situation a lot. :)
if you can find the poem....😀
i was seething in rage and sorrow for weeks. its a big deal in the kingdom of northumberlandia
Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
