Macabre Monday Halloween Edition
Contest Winners!
Here we are and here I am, Ma Cobb on the last Monday 'fore Halloween. Shaina Read and the guys are busy paper mâché-ing a two story minotaur on the front lawn here at the ranch. It's absolutely terrifying. Had to pull Jon T out of the glue bucket a few times though, clumsy derp that he is. I think John Coon took some pictures. We'll post those soon.
That leaves lucky 'ol me to present you with this weeks story digest AND dum da da dah, the winners of our Macabre Monday Halloween Flash Fiction Contest. We had a record number of entries this round with a total of twenty-four hear-palpitating stories.
We also want to thank our five venerable, veracious and sometimes venomous judges who scored these tales— Sean Thomas McDonnell , Hanna Delaney , William Pauley III , EJ Trask , Author Michele Bardsley ( these folks are incredible, you’d be crazy not to subscribe and check out all their stack stories)
—And after a whole lot of abacas shufflin' and number crunchin' they managed to come up with a top three that eeked out the rest.

A tale of a tale of a dark journey into the final days of a crew, stranded and forgotten, as they confront the blinding gaze of an unsettling sun.
3rd Place:
Sam Rake - Barndance
I’ll never look at a farm the same after this one. Nuff said.
We hope the authors of these winning works publish their stories soon so y'all can see experience these chilling fictions for yourself.
And because it was so close, we think it's also fair to mention two other entries.

Congratulations to all the writers and judges involved. Great to be part of this brilliant competition. Hope to read some of these terrifying stories soon.
I think there was a '1' left off the end of my Substack ID, because I don't know who that other Kevin Judge is - but, it has given me great inspiration for a new short story :)
