Here we are and here I am, Ma Cobb on the last Monday 'fore Halloween.
and the guys are busy paper mâché-ing a two story minotaur on the front lawn here at the ranch. It's absolutely terrifying. Had to pull out of the glue bucket a few times though, clumsy derp that he is. I think took some pictures. We'll post those soon. That leaves lucky 'ol me to present you with this weeks story digest AND dum da da dah, the winners of our Macabre Monday Halloween Flash Fiction Contest. We had a record number of entries this round with a total of twenty-four hear-palpitating stories.
We also want to thank our five venerable, veracious and sometimes venomous judges who scored these tales—
, , , , ( these folks are incredible, you’d be crazy not to subscribe and check out all their stack stories)—And after a whole lot of abacas shufflin' and number crunchin' they managed to come up with a top three that eeked out the rest.
So without any further patter, congratulations to—
1st Place:
- Talk To MeA Halloween night of mischief begins with laughter and thrill, but soon shifts into something much darker.
2nd Place:
- BlacksunblindedA tale of a tale of a dark journey into the final days of a crew, stranded and forgotten, as they confront the blinding gaze of an unsettling sun.
3rd Place:
I’ll never look at a farm the same after this one. Nuff said.
We hope the authors of these winning works publish their stories soon so y'all can see experience these chilling fictions for yourself.
And because it was so close, we think it's also fair to mention two other entries.
4th Place:
- Tommy Tell Meand 5th Place:
Thank you to all the other participants who entered. There was so much excellent work here, we are excited for everyone to publish their stories and let us know in our weekly chat thread. We can’t wait to host another contest!
