Loved bookmobiles! I just wrote a Japanese folk horror (3rd in series but can be read out of order)
Title: Iomante
Synopsis: A troubled young Russian woman is on a deer hunting trip in Japan. A ancient entity stalks the frozen woods, taking children, forcing her to confront it.
It's always great to find new horror. I've certainly bought some great selections today!
I have two offerings for the bookmobile, both of which began as Halloween treats for my readers. (They 're more like cozy horror than hardcore horror.)
First, there's Haunted by the Devil, Book 1 in the Soul Salvager series, in which Chris Murphy accidentally sells his soul to the devil in exchange for a hot girlfriend. (He thinks the whole thing is an internet prank at first.) When he finds out the truth, he wants to find a loophole--except that he's fallen in love with his fake girlfriend and wants to save her from Satan's clutches as well. Chris ends up staggering from one disaster to another in his effort to do what everyone tells him is impossible. (Regular Macabrians may remember Chris from the serial, Madisonville Murder, which chronologically falls right after the prologue in this books.) Link to the book: https://www.amazon.com/Haunted-Devil-Soul-Salvager-Book-ebook/dp/B078NLPTYZ/
Second, there's We Walk in Darkness (It's Book 5 in the Spell Weaver series but is designed by be read as a standalone--characters from the early books are reintroduced.) Lucas thinks he must be imagining the strange movements of the shadows--until one tries to kill him. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Walk-Darkness-Spell-Weaver-Book-ebook/dp/B01603XCFU/
My collection, What the Shadows Take... And the Darkness keeps is a quiet collection of loss, ancient ties, and things unseen. A child spills droplets of blood for protection against a familiar evil. A man seeks a back-alley cure for an addiction he cannot outrun. A quiet man with a quiet life learns he can resurrect whatever he kills, and his powers are aimed at someone he could never have.
These are stories of the dying and the dead, malformed creatures, and family secrets that won't stay drowned. Once these shadowy fingers reach into your soul, the darkness will never relinquish the things they take. In my debut collection, the horrors aren't always loud, but they are persistent, and they want something that you have.
Thanks for taking a look! Excited to add a bunch to my tbr!
Hi John and co! The Ring, the second instalment of the Muldoon Mysteries, is coming on the 6th June.
'July 1893
Eager to prove himself detective material, Constable Lacey investigates the disappearance of a local thief. Enquiries soon lead him to the new circus in town, where he meets the mysterious ringmaster Ezra Fontini and his devoted performers. Dazzled by the magical world of the circus, Lacey becomes infatuated with one of Fontini’s charming young aerialists, Ellen French.
The show is welcomed by the locals until Fontini’s headline performer is found dead. Overwhelmed with witness accounts that can’t be explained by logic, the police call on Inspector Daniel Muldoon to find out what’s keeping people from leaving their homes after dark.
This is the second novel in the Muldoon Mysteries series of Gothic Horrors set in 19th century Liverpool.'
I don't have my own horror, but I'm more than happy to plug a friend's new horror book: Dirtbag Satan Worshippers From Down by the Bay. Well, he has a series that I think the entire world needs to check out.
Kids on bike. Crazy horrors from outer space. What more could you want? ;)
