Few things inspire more dark pleasure in the Macabre Monday crypt than digging into a fresh horror tale. We love that dread creeping up your spine as you turn the pages. We relish looking over our shoulders, searching for the monster that may or may not be in the room with you.
During my childhood years in a rural town in Eastern Utah, I borrowed many of my first books from the local bookmobile. It was a bus that carried shelves of books instead of seats — literally a library on wheels. A few of the books I borrowed helped seed my love of horror early in life.
Inspired by the concept of a bookmobile, we here at Macabre Monday want to turn this week’s newsletter into a virtual horror bookmobile.
If you’ve published horror books outside of Substack, this is your chance to put a spotlight on these stories. In the newsletter comments, share your most recently published horror book (or an upcoming preorder) with us. Include your book’s title, a two-sentence book description, and a purchase link.
In that spirit, our own crypt keepers have their own new tales they want to share with you:
A ghost’s haunting skills and patience are tested when an obnoxious family moves into his house. See what unfolds in The Ghost Diaries, a comedy horror tale from
that will leave you in stitches. Get it on Amazon. From otherworldly horrors to dystopian visions, explore dark corners of the Universe in The Midnight Vault. This anthology blending science fiction and horror features spellbinding stories from 29 authors, including
and . Get it on Amazon.
Don’t be shy. Share your tales with us in the comments. And if you end up seeing a book that sounds appealing to you, support a fellow author and buy that book.
