Hello all you gore goblins, masters of horror, and lovers of darkness. Today I thought I’d do a little live video from my haunted home. (Ignore the messy hair please. I had just woken and hadn’t time to put on my face).
Do you recognize the intro? If you haven’t caught on, that my dear darlings, is not my house. No, it is the iconic intro to the television show Tales From the Crypt, a horror anthology series inspired by the comic books of the same name. Each week, a different set of stories would air, aiming to shock, scare, and squeeze a few laughs from an audience looking for something on the darker side of life.
And each Monday, we gather on Substack to do the same. Check out our weekly roundup from last week’s gathering below, and in the comments, do me a favor? Give me a favorite show or movie from your horror fandom origin story.

Tales From The Crypt forever!!!! 😍 Creepshow, Cat’s Eye, waxwork, House (1986 version), Beetlejuice, The Shining, Evil Dead, and The Return of The Living Dead are just a small handful of my horror fandom origin story. My father was Mexican so I basically started watching horror films/shows straight out of the womb 😂
The Haunting (1963) and The Shining (1980). Nothing has ever topped these for me.
