This is a story I posted last year about haunted marionettes. It’s inspired by a real one that I bought in Český Krumlov a few years ago. It’s called “The Old Woman in the Wheelchair”: https://danielwdavison.substack.com/p/the-old-woman-in-the-wheelchair

If you love David Morrell's "Orange Is for Anguish, Blue for Insanity," read "I'll Bring You the Birds from Out of the Sky” by Brian Hodge.

They don't call them haunted, but the objects in Warehouse 13 are always magic. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1132290/

I have so many stories about haunted objects! Here's one that's part of my series, The Truth About Sadie Wilkins. This episode, about an encounter with a haunted doll, can standalone. https://sharonstories.substack.com/p/ep4-a-birthday-party-to-forget

Thanks for the share! It was a bit of a disjointed narrative due to the word count limit, so I’m glad it landed. 🙂

I would love to be as prolific a published author as Oates- she just keeps putting it out and it's nearly always very intriguing.

I feel like my favorite haunted object trope would have to be haunted mirrors, especially since in spiritual circles mirrors are considered to be portals 👀 this was a fun read!

Oates writes some of the most terrifying and disturbing fiction, crafted so realistically I have nightmares for weeks.
