The Wait is Over—It’s Finally Here!
After a long wait, a lot of work and probably one too many sacrifices, we here at Macabre Monday present to you the first ever anthology volume…Vexed To Nightmare.
For those of you that are newer to Macabre Monday; a bit of background. We host a writing contest called Wicked Writing where writers are challenged to bring out their worst with a unique horror prompt. When all is said and done and the stories are judged, the top 5 writers are offered a spot in our annual anthology. This has been in the works for quite a while!
Vexed To Nightmare will always be special—probably the most special anthology we produce—as it is the first volume to ever be released. It is a major win and milestone for this community. Not only that, but it encompasses the beginning of Macabre Monday. With the launch of this newsletter in October 2023 we announced the first contest and since then Macabre Monday has captured many creative souls to take along on its journey. Before 2024, the contest was monthly, thus we have 9 stories sprawling over 2 months of contests and they are all spectacular in their own way. There would have been more, however, the third contest (December) was cancelled due to there not being enough entries. Regardless of that minor setback, we are still extremely proud to present this culmination of work by exceptionally talented writers.
A massive thank you to the writers who’s stories made the cut for your unwavering patience throughout the publishing process. We hope that Vexed To Nightmare is everything that you hoped it would be and marks yet another achievement in your ongoing careers. Congratulations to you all!
To our beloved Macabre Monday community, make no mistake, this would not have happened without you and your love for not only horror, but comradery. All of your dedication to making Monday the best day of the week, participating in Wicked Writing, joining us in community projects and welcoming newly found lost souls into our ranks has undoubtably been the lifeblood of Macabre Monday. Without all of you and your efforts, this amazing community would not exist and we would have no reason to work so hard to bring you anthologies, projects and more. From the bottom of the team’s black heart, thank you.
If you want a shot at being a part of our annual anthology and possibly winning a cash prize, check out the Wicked Writing contest! The current contest runs until March 18th, so there is still plenty of time to get an entry in.
