The Cemetery VI
Channel your inner graverobber and dig up the best horror stories! (And something new!)
Welcome back to another haunting night at The Cemetery, a once monthly promotional event for all the macabre writers that you can find right here on Substack. This remains the best way to find the works of aspiring horror and dark fiction authors all in one place!
New here? Go check out the previous Cemetery posts! There are dozens of awful-ly amazing pieces of work to choose from that will remain in the graveyard for eternity.
Writers: post (link) your work below in the comments, but please share no more than 2 pieces. It does not need to be strictly horror in order to share, as long as it remains within the realm of speculative dark fiction feel free to share your work here!
Readers: visit the comment section to browse the work of many talented writers. The cemetery has a mind of its own, and probably won’t allow you to leave, so you may as well be entertained for your prolonged stay! Feel free to leave feedback, many writers are looking for some kind of critique.
In an effort to keep it organized and easy to spot what you are looking for, follow the below guidelines to help everyone out!
🦇- If you are a reader, or a writer, and have a question for anyone, begin your comment with a bat and then follow it with your question.
💀- If you are sharing work(s) that are short stories, begin the comment with a skull and follow it with your favorite paragraph from the story.
🪦- If you are sharing work(s) that are serialized stories, begin the comment with a tombstone and follow it with a pitch of your stories plot, characters, etcetera.
🥀- If you are sharing work(s) of poetry, begin the comment with a wilted rose and follow it with your favorite line or two from your poem.
👻- If you are sharing work(s) that include essays, reviews or anything else that is not mentioned above, begin the comment with a ghost and follow it with a description of what you are promoting.
Your Weekly Horror Directory! (NEW)
With how much Macabre Monday has grown, we have seen a substantial increase in Monday’s contributions. We felt it was about time to stop limiting the number of authors we share on the digest, so are changing direction. Now, every week there will be a directory that links to everyone’s contributions from the previous week!
(P.S. we will no longer have a list of the entire Macabre Monday community, rather we will only promote those who were active the previous week. Do not worry, we still keep track of every single participant in the community and will feature you if you post anything! Occasionally we may make a Note about the list so everyone can have one that is up-to-date for tagging purposes.)

🪦 “The Attention Farm.”
A freelance journalist and a forensic accountant team up to investigate a strange symbol the government is paying hand over fist to scrub from the public eye. The deeper Winston goes, the more he realizes he may not be the right man for the job…
