Hello friends! Another Macabre Monday is upon us, and that means we get to indulge in our shared love of horror. Last week,
kicked the week off with a call for horror post cards, 250 word short stories that delivered maximum terror. We recapped some of our favorite contributions below! This week, I want to hear about the sounds that scare you. What would your favorite horror movie be without the insanely haunting soundtracks created by composers? I recapped a few that are so iconic, they have become synonymous with fear. Try to hum the Jaws theme song the next time you’re at the beach. It’s my favorite way to clear the water. And who doesn’t love a classy “Ree-ree-ree-ree,” from Psycho? How else would we describe our favorite slasher scene?
But of all the spooky horror soundtracks, Halloween takes the prize for me. Creepy keys. What can I say. They get me.
Your turn: comment here or in the chat. What is your favorite horror soundtrack/soundscape? When did you first hear it?

A selection of last week’s memorable Macabre Monday offerings:
If you all remember, last week John Coon asked you all to share horror postcards, 250 word stories created to terrify. So many of you answered the call! If you haven’t make sure to check out these stories and writers.
- gave us a micro horror story, as if it was written on a post card. Reminiscent of the epistolary story, “Jerusalem’s Lot,” by Stephen King. Enjoy!
- shared a hellish 250 word thrill ride, with her story, “Final Seconds Of My Flight.”
- delivered a terrifying cliffhanger in his post card horror story. Familial horror with a heavy dose of dread.
- reminded us that sometimes vengeance transcends death with her spring time horror post card, “Grass.”
- gave us new tech-ish nightmares in his short post card horror story, “The Turkish Barbers.”
A favorite of mine is the opening sequence to the Shining and sleepy hollow is pretty good too
Thank you for bringing up my own form of Hellish Horror. Z
