Something is often amiss in all the holiday cheer. Santa’s jingle bells, presents under the tree, hope for humanity, the coming of light after winter solstice, the gathering of family and friends, it can all be wonderful, can’t it? But that my dears is only half the story. There is also darkest night, winter storms, Krampus, and punishments for naughty children. Shadows await, and we, the grave tenders here at Macabre Monday, have plenty of darkness to serve up to you this season.
Drum roll please…
We are proud to promote Twelve Days of Christmas - Dark Tidings a collaboration, initiated by our very own Macabre Monday community member, Garen Marie. If you haven’t started, dive in now, and enjoy a spooky start to your holidays! One story will be posted each day, starting December 13th, and continuing through Christmas Eve. It’s sure to be a fright!
And without further ado, the Weekly Digest:
- stunned us with one of her Wyrde tales, “Blasted Hill.”
- took revenge in a way most of us know well: she wrote a story.
- wove a Krampus tale fit for all the naughty children this year.
- gave us the beautiful and terrifying myth of Berchta, the Christmas Witch.
- published a deliciously sinister morsel, “Wake Me Please,” in which reality is not what it seems.
- took us to warmer weather, with an eco horror story, “Weatherman.”
Thank you so much! Excited to dig into everyone's stories!
Thank you for the Dark Tidings shout-out!!
