Surprise! Again!
Good morrow to thee, Macabre Monday-phile. As you can tell, this week’s post has been hijacked by one of the crew members. Never you mind where Jeff is. Never you mind.
Please enjoy a condensed version of this week’s post. May it bring you solace during the holiday rat-race. A reprieve from relatives and familial chaos. Perhaps it can even accompany you with your morning cup of coffee or tea. Let’s start the last week of the year off right, shall we?
Announcements
It may not come as a surprise, with the holidays and whatnot, but the Wicked Writing Contest did not see enough entries this month to warrant a contest, so it has been cancelled. Thus we end the year with a sizzle, rather than a bang! However, the real prize this month was seeing the revival of The Suff for its holiday misadventures. Many talented writers took to their keyboards in order to bring special holiday stories from our favorite urban legend!
Go check out all the the new and old stories here! And a hearty thanks to
for collecting and archiving all materia related to everyone’s favorite Substack legend, The Suff!Fear not, we have learned much from the last few months and we have many improvements, not only to the contest, but to Macabre Monday in general coming in the new year. We are extremely excited to bring all of the new changes to you so that everyone can have more fun and keep benefitting from this amazing community.
Before getting to the digest, we would like to thank the two authors that took time out of their busy lives to contribute a piece for this months Wicked Writing Contest;
for her entry, “The Hounds of Winter”.
James Nicoli for his entry, “Fear the Dark”.
Go check out their stories when they make them available on their publications!

Gentlefolk, it has been an honor to steer this ship across the holiday seas. And now, I leave you with a traditional Yuletide blessing:
“May you have walls for the ghostly winds,
a roof for the torrential rain
and tea beside the fearsome fire.
A cackle to cheer you,
those with whom you conspire near you,
and all your dark heart might desire.
May horror and terror surround you,
The Suff to latch your door,
And Macabre Monday be with you now,
And bless you nevermore. ”
Love in Suff,
Maribel
Organizational Freak, Macabre Monday
If you are looking for people to follow on Notes for Macabre Monday, check out all the people participating (this is the trimmed, most up-to-date list):
I'm definitely gonna give these people a follow, and read and review every single story here! Thanks so much for the tag Maribel! I appreciate it, I'll be referring back to this post later, when I'm better rested tmw on the 26, and can start doing the reading for each tale (and following every MM supporter then, as right now I'm bleary-eyed from 2 days of lack of proper sleep!).
But am excited to start participating in future prompts, and putting up my own prompts, but next week I want to get the second journal entry of Varcola up!
Mother of Demons, huh? Has a nice ring to it😈
